The previous Deputy Common Secretary of the New Patriotic Social gathering (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has expressed displeasure at President Akufo-Addo’s selection of Ken Ofori-Atta as caretaker minister for the Ministry of Commerce and trade.

Nana Obiri Boahen asserted that the President erred in appointing Ken Ofori-Atta to the Commerce and Business Ministry instead of Alan Kyerematen. He said that whereas legally and constitutionally, the president’s selection was appropriate, it was incorrect politically and morally.

Talking in an interview on Wontumi TV, he added that it confuses him that the president’s advisors sat unconcerned for such a call to be taken provided that the Finance Minister was already experiencing backlash from a piece of the general public.

“With all due respect and with all humility to the president, that call for the president to permit Ken Ofori-Atta to take cost was incorrect. Constitutionally the president was proper, legally the president was proper, however politically it was incorrect and morally it was incorrect. Constitutionally, if a cupboard minister is just not round, a cupboard minister should substitute him.
