Canada is expelling a Chinese language diplomat after allegations that Zhao Wei was concerned in a marketing campaign to intimidate a Canadian opposition legislator vital of Beijing.
In an announcement on Monday, International Minister Melanie Joly mentioned the Canadian authorities has designated Zhao “persona non grata”.
“I’ve been clear: we won’t tolerate any type of international interference in our inner affairs. Diplomats in Canada have been warned that in the event that they have interaction in this sort of behaviour, they are going to be despatched residence,” Joly mentioned.
